On the Conclusion of the High-level Political Forum on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan, in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), formally acknowledges the conclusion of the 2025 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, convened under the auspices of ECOSOC.

Representing the Royal House’s accredited non-governmental organization, His Excellency Colonel (Ret.) Marc A. Garcia, serving as Special Envoy, formally monitored the Ministerial Segment proceedings. Notably, the forum culminated in the adoption of the Ministerial Declaration (document E/HLPF/2025/L.1), reaffirming the global community’s enduring commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The final vote on the declaration saw 154 Member States in favor. The United States and Israel voted against the measure, while Iran and Paraguay abstained. The divergence in views centered on key concerns of climate action, poverty alleviation strategies, and the equitable advancement of digital transformation—issues of critical consequence to global wellbeing and planetary stewardship.

Held under the theme, “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs — leaving no one behind”, the Forum’s three-day Ministerial Segment (21–23 July 2025) fostered substantive dialogue among Member States. The gathering served as a vital platform for reviewing national commitments, forging consensus on inclusive policy frameworks, and promoting science-informed solutions to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan reiterates its firm support for multilateral cooperation, evidence-based policymaking, and inclusive development. The House remains committed to engaging constructively with United Nations organs and Member States in pursuit of the values and objectives enshrined in the 2030 Agenda—seeking dignity, security, and prosperity for all peoples.

Further, the House underscores the indispensable role of NGOs, IGOs, and civil society in contributing expertise and perspective to ECOSOC processes. Special Envoy Garcia expressed appreciation to His Imperial and Royal Highness Prince Gharios El Chemor of Ghassan and His Excellency the Grand Chancellor, the Rev. Dr. Christian Dominic Boyd, for securing unimpeded access to United Nations grounds and conference meetings, in accordance with the strict protocols governing NGO participation.

This statement is issued under the seal and authority of the Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan.
