Historical Context, Legal Status, and Donations Policy

The Royal House of Ghassan is widely recognized for its ancient legacy as pioneers of Christian knighthood in the Arab world, predating the Crusades by nearly five centuries. While Ghassanid warriors were not organized into formal orders of chivalry like their European counterparts, they fought under sacred banners such as Christ Pantokrator, Saint Michael the Archangel, and Saint Sergius, and upheld the noble code of Muru’ah: honor, loyalty, generosity, forgiveness, and protection of the vulnerable.

Today, the Royal House makes no claim to dynastic rule or institutional continuity with historical orders. Rather, it serves as a modern, non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to humanitarian, cultural, and interfaith initiatives. It holds Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is recognized by the Republic of Lebanon as part of its historical and cultural heritage.

All ceremonial recognitions are awarded solely on the basis of merit. Any donations or honoraria offered in relation to honors are entirely voluntary and used to support the House’s ongoing mission. No contribution guarantees any title or honor.

The Royal House of Ghassan operates with integrity, transparency, and purpose—entirely through the commitment of its global network of volunteers.

Regional Associations and Societies

The Grand Marshal serves as the liaison between the Royal House and the regional associations and societies related to the Royal House, sometimes called Commanderies, which are composed of those who bear the Ghassanid orders and honors, as well as friends and supporters. These associations and societies are non-profit and charitable in nature.

For information on an association or society in your area, please contact the Chancellery of the Royal House of Ghassan.
